When Trippe's politico Senator Ralph Owen Brewster accuses Hughes of being a war profiteer, it's Hughes who gains the upper hand. Look, filmmakers, wolves do not stalk people through the woods and attack them out of the blue. Hughes also had many women in his life including a long relationship with actress Katharine Hepburn. It's hard to imagine who could trump the technical team for Oscars this year. The film is lengthy, but this compliments it, for the story is riveting and the production is practically flawless even the combination of computerized processes and more traditional photography was smooth and effective. Hughes also had many women in his life including a long relationship with actress Katharine Hepburn. But, This movie does have some pretty good moments. Cate Blanchett is incredible as Katherine Hepburn. After years of playing a mild mannered, hero type, He decides to play the anti-hero.

Whether trying to get a plane off the ground or a young starlet into bed, Hughes attacks life with a fierce gusto -- plagued and prodded by obsessive compulsive germphobia that constantly threatens to consume and defeat him.
Reeves does a good job playing the irritated grownup with a spoiled brat. DiCaprio's character study of Howard Hughes, and his devotion to this role, is exquisite and reminiscent even of Robert De Niro's in Raging Bull. What was the drive of The Aviator? The film as a whole drags a bit and suffers from a surfeit of riches, with too many supporting actors playing famous faces and not all of them doing a very good job I was cringing at Cate Blanchett's Hepburn portrayal, for example. With such a perfectly realized world in which to perform, the actors universally do an outstanding job. Martin Scorcese has created a seminal work -- one that brings the harrowing, big-studio, adult movie making of the 1970's and totally reinvents and reinvigorates it for today's audience. Also, it seems that some of the themes were almost too redundant, such as the ways in which Hughes' psychological problems were performed. When Trippe's politico Senator Ralph Owen Brewster accuses Hughes of being a war profiteer, it's Hughes who gains the upper hand. Yet, it is his one constant companion from early childhood to his ultimate, inescapable end.

Reviewed by gmorgan-4 8 Martin Scorsese's most recent ambitious project does not disappoint. Synopsis A biopic depicting the early years of legendary director and aviator Howard Hughes' career, from the late 1920s to the mid-1940s.
Blanchett's interpretation of Katherine Hepburn seems spot on, and anyone familiar with the late actresses mannerisms will appreciate the hard work that clearly went into the recreation. Alda, one of the most consistently underrated actors around, delivers another masterclass in restrained character building as he oozes ambition and political dishonesty from every pore. The script begins as a young Hughes directs one of Scorsese's favorite films, Hell's Angels.
