This book is about four kids in the land of Erdas who drink a ceremonial nectar and each find themselves with an ancient spirit animal. These four kids summon the great legendary animals that were killed in battle — Briggan the Wolf, Uraza the Leopard, Jhi the Panda and Essix the Falcon. Conor was my favorite character in this book. When the drinks the Nectar, she summons , the patron animal of Zhong. Enter the world of Erdas, where every child who comes of Four children separated by vast distances all undergo the same ritual, watched by cloaked strangers. Violence: definitely some in this area.

I would rate this book a hundred stars if I could! I was drawn in by Nicola Barber's voice and loved every second of my experience. I love the idea of a coming-of-age ritual that results in having an animal companion that boosts your skills. The four main characters are fun to get to know, each one with their strengths and weaknesses. Each of the characters are unique and talented! Some martial arts-style fighting in a ring. The Four Fallen have returned. Explain why Meilin is more comfortable with the Greencloaks than she is among her own people in Zhong.

I know that I've only read the first book, but I truly believe the rest of the books in the Spirit Animals series are going to be amazing. Giving up, he introduces himself as Monte, and takes the group to see Barlow. This series is supremely underrated. Following his orders, Meilin arrives at her ceremony fashionably late. And then three more of the Four Fallen appear to other children from the far reaches of Edras: a street urchin named Rollan summons the falcon, a warrior's daughter named Meilin summons a panda, and Abeke, a hunter from a small village summons a leopard.
Conor is going to be the brave one who holds everyone's morals up and keeps them honest. However, they continue their pursuit, and eventually find Arax. Meilin still feels that her bond with Jhi is useless, although she is able to put the panda into passive state on her hand. Now the fate of Erdas has fallen on the shoulders of four young strangers. He distracts Zerif and makes a run for it, managing to outrun the man and his for quite a while.
No monetary or otherwise beneficial supplement was exchanged. This makes Meilin appreciate Jhi more. The animals become connected to the child, and they can lend them strength when needed. At that age, they will get their spirit animal. I know that I've only read the first book, but I truly believe the rest of the books in the Spirit Animals series are going to be amazing. Shouldn't really give it a star rating, I suppose, since I couldn't make it past page 33. And at parts it gets pretty violent and gruesome.
